Our current projects involve arts and education with Indigenous groups in California, and diaspora in several countries.
We are planning ongoing workshops for making, tuning, and playing the California Elderberry Flute, a flute played by California Indigenous nations from the Kumeyaay to the Patwin. Tongva culture bearer Lázaro Arvizu Jr and Tongva member Summer B. Wilson will lead these workshops.
With other Rarámuri descendants, we have compiled resources for the dialects of Rarámuri ra'icha and for Rarámuri culture, and maintain a Discord server for language learners and Rarámuri diaspora. If you have Rarámuri ancestry or are interested in helping out language resources for Rarámuri, please send us an email.
RTL is currently documenting Russian music in Costa Rica, and working with Indigenous actors and musicians in the United States to fund their projects.
In 2021, we worked with Tongva, Tataviam, and Chumash culture bearers, and other organizations, to put on the first ever Indigenous Peoples Day in Big Tujunga Canyon.
